A Message from Trout CPA's Managing Partner on the Coronavirus

Dear Clients,

Trout CPA’s top priority is the health, safety and well-being of our clients and professionals. As such, we are currently monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation closely and will rely on guidance from the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At this time, no one knows how severe this outbreak will be. Given this uncertainty, we are taking proactive steps to protect our clients and professionals.

At the current time, there are no major changes to our daily operations, and we remain committed to you, our valued client. Our firm is committed to a flexible workplace, and we have the technological and operational infrastructure for our employees to work virtually, should the need arise.

Tax Appointments

If your tax return is prepared by a professional in our Lancaster office, and you do not need or want to have an in-person tax appointment, you can place your tax information in our outside drop box which is located on the right side of our building next to the first door. Clients who have their taxes prepared by our Carlisle office can place their information in the mail slot at the front of the building. Please be sure to place all information in a sealed envelope and include your name, telephone number, email address, and the preparer’s name on the front of the envelope. At this time, we do not have a drop box option at the Mechanicsburg office due to building renovations.

How to Get Your Tax Information to Us

If you would prefer to send your tax information to us electronically, please contact your preparer.  They will send you a secure link that can be used to upload your documents electronically. If you do not select the electronic option, you will be able to drop off your tax information at any of our offices with our receptionists.

Electronic Delivery of Tax Return

If you are open to receiving your completed tax return electronically, please notify your preparer immediately. They will work with you to have your return delivered securely. If you do not select this option, you may continue to pick up your tax returns at our office, as long as we are able.

Returning Your 8879s to Trout CPA

In order for us to file your tax return electronically, we need you to sign all 8879 forms. This gives us authorization to electronically file your return(s). You can email your signed 8879s to efile@troutcpa.com, drop them off at any of our office locations, or mail them to us prior to April 6, 2020.

We will continue to assess the Coronavirus risk and, should the situation change, we will issue updates via email. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your preparer if you have additional questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Todd Harrington, CPA, CVA, GCMA
