On March 17, 2021, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that the federal income tax filing due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021.
Individual taxpayers can request a filing extension until October 15, 2021 if they need additional time to file beyond the new tax deadline of May 17th by filing Form 4868.
Estimated Income Tax Payments
Taxpayers who make estimated income tax payments should continue to follow their same filing schedule, including taxpayers with estimated tax payments due on April 15, 2021.
Pennsylvania
The PA Department of Revenue announced that the deadline for taxpayers to file their 2020 Pennsylvania personal income tax returns and make final 2020 income tax payments has been extended to May 17, 2021.
Estimated Income Tax Payments
Taxpayers who make estimated income tax payments should continue to follow their same filing schedule, including taxpayers with estimated tax payments due on April 15, 2021.
Local Pennsylvania Counties
The counties listed below have extended the 2020 tax filing and final 2020 payments to May 17, 2021. These counties have also advised taxpayers who make estimated income tax payments to continue to file their 1st quarter 2021 estimate by April 15, 2021.- Lancaster County

Chester, Dauphin and Lebanon County’s income tax collector is Keystone Collections Group. As of March 22, 2021, Keystone Collections Group has not announced an extended due date of May 17, 2021. In addition, Berks County has not announced an extended due date of May 17, 2021.
