As we approach the end of 2024, Trout CPA is both honored and bittersweet as we announce the retirement of three of our respected partners: Krista Showers, Scott Christ, and Brian Groff. These leaders, each having left an indelible mark on our firm and the community, will be retiring on November 30, 2024. Together, they represent decades of dedication, expertise, and leadership.
Managing Partner Todd Harrington reflects on their impact, stating, “Krista, Scott, and Brian have not only shaped Trout CPA but have also helped shape the lives of countless clients, colleagues, and community members. Their commitment to excellence and passion for service have inspired us all. We are grateful for their contributions and the legacy they leave behind.”
Brian Groff: A Legacy of Service and Leadership
Brian Groff’s journey with Trout CPA began in 1993, after graduating from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. As chair of the firm’s Team Development Committee and the Not-for-Profit Practice Group, Brian has been instrumental in nurturing talent and guiding the firm’s growth in the nonprofit sector. His service extended beyond Trout CPA, as he became a prominent figure in the Lancaster County community, holding leadership roles with organizations such as the Lancaster Family YMCA, PA College of Health Sciences, and United Disabilities Services.
Reflecting on his career, Brian shared, “A lesson I’ve learned is that success is not just about achieving personal goals—it’s about investing in others and helping them succeed. In the end, relationships are what truly matters.”
Scott Christ: A Journey of Expertise and Commitment
Scott Christ brought nearly 36 years of public accounting experience to Trout CPA when he joined through the 2020 merger with Greenawalt & Company, P.C. His comprehensive knowledge of audit, accounting, and tax services made him an invaluable asset to the firm. Scott has also played a crucial role in maintaining the quality of our services as an active member of the Quality Control Committee, ensuring that our clients receive the highest standard of care.
In reflecting on his career, Scott said, “One life lesson I’ve carried with me is the importance of adaptability. Our industry is constantly evolving, and those who can embrace change will find both success and fulfillment in the process.”
Krista Showers: A True Professional
Krista Showers, Trout CPA’s very first intern, joined the firm after graduating magna cum laude from Immaculata College. Over her 34-year career, Krista’s leadership, particularly as chair of the Employee Benefit Plans Practice Group, has been instrumental in shaping our firm’s service offerings. Her dedication to excellence extended beyond Trout CPA, serving on boards such as the Lancaster County Community Foundation and the Lancaster Early Education Center.
Reflecting on her career, Krista shared the following: “A lesson I learned is from one of my clients. Always put people first – be truly present, authentic, and strive to build a relationship where each person is valued.”
A Lasting Legacy
As Krista, Scott, and Brian prepare to embrace the next chapter of their lives, their influence will continue to be felt at Trout CPA. Their leadership, commitment to clients, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of professionals have made a lasting impact on our firm.
We wish them all the best as they enter retirement and extend our heartfelt gratitude for their years of service. Their contributions have strengthened Trout CPA’s foundation, and their legacy will continue to inspire us in the years to come.
Todd Harrington sums it up best: “Krista, Scott, and Brian have set the standard for professionalism, integrity, and community service. They have left a lasting imprint on Trout CPA, and their contributions will not be forgotten.”
We thank Krista, Scott, and Brian for their remarkable careers and wish them happiness and fulfillment in retirement.
