Nick Miller, CMI

Nick Miller serves as the Director of Indirect Tax at Trout CPA, bringing more than 18 years of experience in multi-state indirect taxation to lead our State and Local Tax practice. He specializes in sales and use tax compliance, taxability and nexus analysis, and helping clients navigate complex indirect tax environments.

He has extensive experience managing outsourced tax functions, leading voluntary disclosure agreements, and supporting audit defense efforts. Nick also advises clients on tax technology implementations, including Avalara and other leading ERP and compliance systems, helping organizations streamline processes and improve accuracy.

Prior to joining Trout CPA, Nick held leadership roles in both public accounting and industry, including Director of State and Local Tax at CliftonLarsonAllen LLP and Director of Tax at Shift4 Payments, where he oversaw all aspects of indirect tax compliance and strategy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lock Haven University and is a Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) in Sales Tax from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.

In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, running, and playing golf. He lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with his wife and children.
