Carol Roland, CPA, CFE, CGMA, MBA, and partner at Trout, Ebersole & Groff, LLP, gave a presentation at the Lancaster-Lebanon School Business Officials (LLSBO) meeting in Lancaster, PA.

On Thursday, January 4th, Carol spoke on “Government Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 75 Accounting and Financial Reporting by Employers for Postemployment Benefits Other than Pensions (OPEB).”

LLSBO is a regional chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO). PASBO is a statewide association, 3,000 members strong devoted to providing members with education, training, professional development and timely access to legislative and policy news. The membership base covers school professionals working in finance, accounting, operations, facilities, transportation, food service, technology, communications, human resources, purchasing and safety services. While diverse in areas of specialty, all members share a common goal - to support classroom learning in schools during good and bad economic times through smart business practices. PASBO helps make that goal a reality.

Regional chapters are the driving force behind the success of PASBO. Being on the local level, regional chapters are able to recruit professionals and experts who can speak to groups about specific issues within their area of the state. Mentors can help ease the transition into a school business official's position for those who are new to the field. PASBO board liaisons provide feedback and insights to regional chapter officers whenever necessary. By joining and actively participating in regional chapters, school business officials stay informed, educate others and help the association continually make progress.
