Trout, Ebersole & Groff Hires Six Accountants

Trout, Ebersole & Groff, LLP (TEG) is pleased to announce the hire of Emalie Shaffer, Kristen Smoluk, Benjamin Webb, Anne Horting, Connor Bell, and Haley Goodling. Kristen will begin her accounting career at our Capital Region office and the other professionals will be working out of our Lancaster office.

Emalie ShafferEmalie Shaffer
Emalie graduated from York College of Pennsylvania in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She chose to work in the accounting industry because she enjoys being challenged and appreciates the opportunity to contribute to a team.

In her free time, Emalie plays a variety of musical instruments and enjoys watching her sisters compete on their college sports teams. She also spends a lot of her time volunteering at LCBC Church in Children's Ministry and on the Worship Team. She also volunteers for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Organization (HOBY), which is an organization that inspires and develops a global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation.

 

Kristin Smoluk Kristen Smoluk
Kristen graduated in May of 2019 from Messiah College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. While attending college, Kristen was a captain of the Women’s Basketball Team. She also participated in the Accounting Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Kristen chose to work in the accounting field because she enjoys serving others and problem-solving.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys playing basketball & golf, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Benjamin WebbBenjamin Webb Original-1

Benjamin graduated in May of 2019 from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. At Grove City College, Ben was the Director of the Men’s Intramural Basketball and President of Sigma Phi Omicron Housing Group & New Life Ministries. Ben chose to work in public accounting because he enjoys the diversity of working with different industries.

When Ben is not at work, you can typically find him outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.

 

Anne Horting

Anne Horting 2After graduating from Elizabethtown Area High School, Anne went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Susquehanna University in May of 2019. 

In addition to her summer internship at TEG, Anne had three additional accounting internships. During her senior year of college, she also volunteered at VITA, which is an organization that prepares tax returns for low-income families at no cost.

In her free time, Anne enjoys spending time with friends, reading, and skiing. She also loves to travel and has been to 13 countries and 15 U.S. States.

 

Connor Bell
Connon BellConnor graduated from Messiah College in December of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. At Messiah College, Connor was the goalie for the Varsity Men’s Soccer Team. In 2017, Messiah won the national championship for Division III Men’s Soccer.

Connor chose to work in the public accounting field because he enjoys the order and the processes involved in performing the work. He explains, "with all of the various accounting regulations and standards, there is a proper order for how jobs need to be performed.”

In his free time, Connor enjoys staying active; usually, this involves playing soccer, tennis, golf, running, or biking. He also likes to play board games, lawn games, and fantasy football.

Haley J. GoodlingHaley Goodling

Haley graduated in May of 2019 from Monmouth University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a Minor in Information Technology. Haley was on the Monmouth Women’s Golf Team and was Captain her senior year.

Haley's passion for numbers was the reason she chose to work in the accounting industry. Haley not only excels in accounting, but she is also an outstanding golfer. In June 2019, Haley won the Lancaster Women's Amateur Golf Title for the fourth straight year. When Haley is not at work or golfing, she is spending time with her family and friends.
